A CHILD'S WORDS OF WISDOM...

DURING AN EXAMINATION,
THE DOCTOR WAS TRYING TO MAKE A NERVOUS GIRL FEEL
COMFORTABLE.
LOOKING DOWN HER THROAT,
HE ASKED,
DO YOU THINK I'LL FIND THE COOKIE MONSTER DOWN THERE?
THE LITTLE GIRL WAS PUZZLED AND DID NOT RESPOND.

THEN HE PUT A STETHOSCOPE TO HER CHEST TO LISTEN TO HER HEARTBEAT
AND ASKED,
"DO YOU THINK I'LL HEAR GROVER GROWLING IN THERE?"
BECOMING MORE CONFUSED, SHE LOOKED AT HER MOTHER WONDERING
HOW TO RESPOND.

FINALLY, HE LOOKED INTO HER EARS AND SAID, "I WONDER IF I'M GOING TO SEE BARNEY INSIDE?"

PERPLEXED, SHE LOOKED AT HIM AND SAID,
"I DON'T THINK YOU'LL FIND THE COOKIE MONSTER INSIDE ME,
BUT THERE ARE PROBABLY A FEW FRENCH FRIES FROM LUNCH,
AND
BARNEY'S ON MY SLACKS AS YOU CAN PLAINLY SEE,
AND

THERE IS NO ROOM FOR GROVER IN MY HEART.
I OPENED IT UP TO JESUS AND HE LIVES THERE NOW.

MY PRAYERS FOR ALL...

UGH! WHERE'S THE SUN?
Drawing
5-3/4 x 10-1/4"

First of all, I want to tell all Irene hurricane victims
and
all future hurricane victims yet to come...
that you are in my prayers.

You are a strong people!
You endure so many hardships with valor and courage.
I am amazed to witness the energy and bravery that the American people have.

Who said that Americans are wimps?  Huh!!!!
I am the wimp!
Yes, I admit it and it's ok to be a wimp.
I was brought up in the Arizona blazing desert.
Beautiful blue and treeless mountains surrounded my home.
There were saguaros, roadrunners, and everything crawly that is from the desert.

As a child I loooooovvvveeeeeddddd riding my bike under these extreme conditions.

I always thought that most of the United States was cloaked in this hot and sleepy environment.
Never did I imagine that so much adversity existed in most of the United States.

HURRICANES...
TORNADOES...
EARTHQUAKES...
SNOW STORMS...

After I became a truck driver with my husband we began to visit our wonderful nation.
but.....
then....
I discovered that we literally had to play a dodge game just to get across the nation
without getting hit by some extreme weather!

Ouch!  Was that a rude awakening.

What amazed me back then and now is that people do not move from their birth land
just because of adverse weather.
They stick it out no matter what mother nature brings their way.

Wow!

I'm still amazed because at this moment I live in an area that gets hit by extreme weather,
and
I find myself
SCREAMING
COMPLAINING
AND
SQUEALING
ALL THE WAY HOME.... :)

Yes, talk about being a wimp.

So my deep respect and love to the majority of the Americans that suffer and endure
no matter what living conditions they may find themselves in.

It also tells me that the family bond is NOT dead.
We continue to want to be near our loved ones, no matter what life may bring our way.

Fortunately to me my native land is Arizona
and
God willing I will be there once again this year.
and
this time I will not budge.

My love to you all and may God bless you.

- Veronica

Remember the time...?

Home Sweet Home
6-5/8 x 8-1/2"

Remember the time when it was a make-believe world?

Remember when we actually thought that we had freedom?

Remember the time when we would wake up to a sunny day and only wonder what we were going to eat for dinner?

Remember when we would run out of the house in our shorts
and
carelessly go and skate or play with our neighbors?

Remember the time when the most that the nation cared about was reporting about the sassy American tourists abroad?

Do you remember when you could actually say

HOME SWEET HOME?

SUNNY ARIZONA...

HOW LONG WILL IT BE?
6"X 6"

It's almost time to move back to my native State, Arizona.

It has been too long since I've been gone.

EIGHT YEARS BRAVING THE SNOW, TORNADOES AND EXPERIENCING TOO MUCH RAIN.

Miss you Arizona,

but

I'll be there soon.

What a pleasure to wake up in the morning to your shininess,

to your surrounding Saguaros,

to your lizards running all around,

to  your jackrabbits that are absolutely outlandish!

I've never seen bunnys with such big ears.

(What's up doc?)

I'll wake up to the clear and blue sun almost all year round...

I'll be able to view the hairless/treeless mountains (love it)

Yes, I'm a desert rat!

Wait for me Arizona - I'm almost there!

:)

THE MARTYRS

THE MARTYRS

So much suffering endured throughout the ages
The Martyrs lacked the necessary freedom to believe in God
They lacked the freedom to express themselves

They didn't care about government law
They only cared about dying for their one and only true Savior,
Jesus Christ.

It is heartbreaking to have painted this canvas.
There was a tear with every brush stroke
Tears in honor of
THE MARTYRS

ESCUDERO WEEPS

ESCUDERO WEEPS
28X36"

My exhibit is still up for the rest of this week.
I think what I plan on doing is to feature a different painting that is currently hung up in the gallery throughout the week.

This one is one of my favorite oil pastel drawings.  It is on Fabriano 300 lb watercolor paper.  A lot of luscious purples, reds, blues...color and more color.
The little figure at the bottom of the page has a broken heart.
It's an endearing piece.

Father's Day - A Gift for my Hubby

AGAPE LOVE

WHAT ARE HUBBIES MADE FOR?

TO BE THERE WHEN WE ARE UNDER THE WEATHER
TO LAUGH WHEN WE SUPPOSEDLY SAY A JOKE
TO SAY I LOVE YOU FROM TIME TO TIME
TO ALWAYS SAY WE LOOK BEAUTIFUL!

TO BE THERE FOR US WHEN WE ARE SICK AND UGH...CONTAGIOUS

TO JUST BE THERE

TO SING WHEN ALL IS NOT WELL
TO BE OUR PRAYER PARTNER AT ALL TIMES
TO BE THE FATHER OF MY BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER

YES, I KNOW,  TO BE MY FIXER UPPER (TRADITIONAL ROLE)

TO...UMMMMM...COOK FOR US!
(I LOVE THAT ONE THAT'S FOR SURE)

TO BE MY PARTNER EVEN WHEN WE HAVE BEEN MARRIED
A CAGILLION YEARS

TO BE THE LOVE OF MY LIFE

YES

THAT'S

WHAT

HUBBIES

ARE

MADE

FOR.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY BUCKY!

"Agape Love" is the true meaning of love.  You can't reach "Agape Love" when you first start your life of bliss with your hubby.  It begins to manifest itself when you have journeyed together during the difficult and fun times.  Then and only then can you say that your love for your husband is AGAPE LOVE.

FRIDA KAHLO - AN ICON?

ICON, SAINT OR HUMAN?  FRIDA...HUMAN

Frida, I feel so sorry that you had to endure so much suffering.
You were definitely not respected as an artist,
and you seemed to play a secondary role next to Diego Rivera.

Today you are currently more popular than Diego Rivera,
You are consistently and obsessively being painted,
and you are an Icon for female artists.

Now why in the world did I follow the pack of worshippers and force your image
(once again) to be birthed on earth?

Sorry Frida, it was a commission.
What an excuse.
I too love your indigenous look.
I love the huipil dresses that you wore,
I love the festive braids posed on your head,
I love your persona,
I love your passion for love and life, manifested in your art,
but I don't love your politics at all.

I am sooooo guilty of possessing watches, t-shirts, purses, etc. with Frida Kahlo's image on all of them.
Ok, I'm guilty but as an artist it saddens me to see that we consistently desecrate her image.
Can't we leave her alone?
Can't we just appreciate her art?
This one factor troubles me.
Frida Kahlo was not an Icon
nor
was she a Saint!
Frida was and is simply a human.
We are the guilty ones that insist on putting her on a pedestal.

When have you ever heard of artists painting the image of a deceased artist?
Usually we love and appreciate their art and that is it!

But no we insist on painting her over and over again.
My gosh, when will we stop?
